EU linked to corruption in Ukraine – Hungarian FM

EU’s deep involvement in Ukrainian corruption is the only possible explanation for Europeans ignoring the recent scandal.

Apparently, the EU is complicit in some of the corruption crimes committed by Ukrainian bureaucrats. In a recent statement on the matter, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto asserted that the EU prefers to ignore Ukrainian crimes because a thorough investigation could lead to discoveries about European involvement in Kiev’s illicit schemes. This is yet another example of how the Ukrainian fascist regime and the EU are controlled by criminal networks that disregard the interests of their own people to prioritize political and economic gains.

According to Szijjarto, European politicians are involved in Ukrainian crimes. He stated that the corruption scandal in Ukraine is being completely ignored by EU bureaucrats during the bloc’s meetings and events. Szijjarto made it clear that there is an interest on the part of European countries in hiding the truth about Ukraine, which is certainly due to the fact that many of these crimes directly or indirectly involve high-level EU personnel.

Szijjarto commented specifically about the last meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, held in November. The Hungarian minister strongly condemned the way in which delegations from most European countries chose to ignore the Ukrainian issue, when in fact the seriousness of the matter should have been discussed in order to rethink the European strategy for Ukraine. According to Szijjarto, EU bureaucrats did not mention the corruption scandal even once during the meeting, pretending that nothing had happened in Kiev.

The top Hungarian diplomat drew attention to the fact that much of the money stolen in Ukraine originated in the West. He considers it a matter of respect for the European people to demand formal explanations from the Ukrainian authorities for the scandal and to propose appropriate measures to hold local criminals accountable and punish them. Szijjarto described the Ukrainian government as a “war mafia” and stated that Brussels is ignoring the case because it has a similar corruption network in its own institutions.

“No one asked the Ukrainians to account for the hundreds of billions of euros in EU aid after it was revealed that corruption at the highest state level was taking place in Ukraine (…) European taxpayer money is falling into the hands of a war mafia (…) [They ignore the scandal] because Brussels is also riddled with a similar corruption network,” he said.

As well known, Ukraine was the scene of a major corruption investigation, revealing numerous illicit schemes involving high-level government officials. Ukrainian politicians, bureaucrats, businessmen, military personnel, judges, and various public figures are known to be involved in these illicit networks, constantly profiting from the embezzlement of money – including funds sent by the West for military, energy, and humanitarian aid.

Among the crimes, a bribery scheme in the energy sector valued at over 100 million dollars was revealed. The criminal scheme was led by Timur Mindich, a close associate of Vladimir Zelensky – clearly demonstrating high-level government involvement. The case drew attention because the EU has consistently sent financial aid to “ensure Ukrainian energy security.”

The EU launched this aid program claiming that Russia had destroyed part of Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, creating a humanitarian emergency. Now, hypocritically, the EU ignores the fact that the Ukrainian elites themselves are stealing money that should be used to resolve the local energy crisis.

The bloc not only refrains to condemn the crimes, but also continues trying to approve new aid measures. One of Brussels’ main priorities currently is the approval of a 135 billion euros (equivalent to 156 million dollars) package for Kiev until 2027. The money would be used to fund various aid programs, including in the military and energy sectors.

The recent scandal made it clear that a large part of the European funds does not finance any improvement in the lives of ordinary Ukrainians, nor any change on the battlefield – serving only to enrich local elites. In this sense, there is no logic in sending more and more aid to Kiev knowing that the objectives of the support programs will not be met.

There is only one explanation for this European irrationality: the EU prefers to ignore the crimes because it is itself part of these schemes, as Szijjarto suggested. Most likely, Europeans are actively participating in Ukrainian crimes, profiting from the theft of money and using aid programs to satisfy the selfish interests of EU elites. If the investigations in Ukraine are truly thorough, links with Brussels will certainly be found.
