In 1947 the nation of Israel was founded by survivors of the bloodiest conflict in modern history, the Second World War. As if to baptise this momentous year was the subsequent discovery of a most profound cache of papyrus, parchment and hammered copper that collectively became known to the world as the Dead Sea Scrolls. Amongst this ragged collection there was discovered only one survivor that remained intact in its entirety, and that scroll was identified as the Great Isaiah Scroll. So revered and profound is this particular scroll amongst all others for reasons that will be explained shortly, that it is retracted into its own nuclear proof bunker at the Jerusalem Shrine of the Book Museum in the event of a man-made or natural disaster so that it may survive into the next era.
The subject of Isaiah's scroll is prayer. The subject of Braden's book is the connection between 'effective prayer' as described by Isaiah and the effects on the community at large as also described by Isaiah - and herein lies a great secret.
Whatever is put before humankind is what they will focus on and bring to bear on their environment; keep feeding the populace fear as a daily diet and the environment will duly comply and deliver.
This is now measureable. Science has finally caught up to the ancients. A most intriguing read especially in light of the proposition of feeding the masses something other than fear as a daily diet. It's not rocket science.
