Like lemmings off a cliff, reporters follow their editors to mass suicide.
The term hara-kiri is derived from the Japanese words hara (belly) and kiri (to cut) and entails inflicting a wound in one’s abdomen with a knife or sword to commit suicide. You stab deeply and pull the knife around in a circular direction, to disembowel yourself.
Japanese people prefer to use the term seppuku, which is essentially the same thing but represents the ritual and traditional procedure of cutting open the stomach to kill yourself, as resorted to by defeated samurai warriors in the 12th to 17th centuries. This was regarded as an honourable death.
Here in New Zealand, RNZ, media companies, reporters and their editors are engaged in hara-kiri, the dishonourable form of suicide.
It’s not nice to watch this disembowelment being carried out slowly, and to see the innards of reporters and their editors dragged out for all to see.
It is disgusting to watch this contagion spread with no attempt to stop it. Not one of the media companies, not one of the editors and none of their reporters, appears to be intelligent enough to see what they are doing to themselves.
These employees, some with degrees, prefer to lose their jobs in vast numbers, as newspapers lose sales, TV channels lose viewers, and both lose businesses willing to advertise in their media outlets.
The trouble with hara-kiri is that it hurts for a while before you achieve your goal. It hurts a lot to stab yourself deeply enough to start the process properly, and it hurts even more as you force the knife around to continue the procedure until your guts spill out and you finally achieve death by disembowelment.
And it is all so avoidable.
Why are the media doing this to themselves? Why are they continuing to write opinion pieces from their leftist viewpoints, rather than doing the research necessary to find the facts, and report on those instead? Why have they stopped writing articles that are relevant, informative and of interest to the vast majority?
More than 65% of reporters and their editors, self-identify as being left leaning; of which 46% are very left leaning, and 25% extremely left leaning, to the point of being socialists who promote Marxist ideologies. Only 12% saw themselves as being right leaning, of which 3% were very right-leaning or extremely right-leaning. (Source: thefacts.nz)
But that should be irrelevant, if they sought the truth and wrote balanced articles presenting both sides of a story.
Unfortunately, reporters are no longer searchers of truth, they are writers of opinion, theirs. If it’s not from the left, then it’s not right, so don’t publish.
If the article or information gleaned tends to be right leaning, then editors become gatekeepers and do not allow this viewpoint to be printed. It might influence their readers.
The woke brigade is who they write to now, to those who think with their emotions, not their logic, not their brain; those who don’t want their feelings hurt, and the truth might do this.
Truth and trust go hand in hand, and the public at large has lost its trust.
If media personnel had the intelligence to realise they were already in a difficult environment, one in which an ever growing number of people are finding their news on various social media sites, YouTube clips, …; but no, rather than accept that science, truth and facts, are what the public need and want, together with the writing of balanced articles. They insist on continuing to write opinion pieces, ensuring termination of their means of employment.
False news and a constant stream of lies got Donald Trump the job he wanted as supreme leader of his country, so our editors are emulating him, and appear to think they can get away with the same. Well, they can for a while, but their result is the opposite, they get terminated.
It worked for Jacinda too, and that was good, she found $55 million, from a budget the NZ Government could ill afford, to ensure her false facts were the ones promulgated. Her failure to face up to the Royal Commission Covid Inquiry indicates her awareness of undefendable decisions. This is Ardern’s confession that she did more harm to our people and the national economy than any Prime Minister before her.
The education sector, among others, is still trying to recover, but they too were forced over a cliff; and our children are failing in greater numbers now than ever.
Science, truth and facts were the innards ignored in their death throws. Emotional wokeism replaced cognitive accounting and reality has been avoided.
And three more reporters lose their jobs. Stuff is stuffed, RNZ routed and balanced accounting of facts bankrupt.
But of even greater concern, while committing hara-kiri themselves, they are taking our way of life with them. Freedom of speech, coupled with a commitment to reason and science to test competing ideas, made our Western Civilization great. With media taking our freedom of the press away, our western way of life is gone too.
