The Five Pillars of Islam are fundamental and touch on virtually every aspect of life and society.
This, in part, is why Islam is so much more than merely a religion, it is a total way of life.
The religious component forms the base, but along with this are the: judicial, political, economic, social, environmental, educational, military components...
These beliefs include:
(Qur’an, 2:256); so, freedom of religion and expression are explicitly forbidden.
And there are many, many, more…
This all-too-concise summary begins to show that while Muhammad managed to unite defeated people with a new faith, it is much more than just a religion; the
Qur’an, sunnah/hadith and sharia prescribe a complete and total way of life.
Its dictates are exacting and do not tolerate ‘freedom of speech, human rights, democratic rights, rights of women, worship of any other than Allah, laws created by parliament’… (it must be Sharia).
Islam speaks to the community via Sharia, (law), and the soul via Salah, (the prayer ritual). They are mirrors of each other, internal and external versions of the same project.
It is a total package of ideologies, and way of life, that are incompatible with those of western societies today.
Yet, having said how strict its dictates are, I note that although its adherents are instructed not to divide themselves into sects, they have, and there are many.
Qur’an: ‘we are commanded not to divide ourselves into sects.’
So, the Qur’an, the literal word of Allah, make this clear, and there is a hadith that supports this.
Hadith – “There will be 73 different sects within Islam, and only one will reach heaven, the others are destined for hell” – attributed to Muhammad
Despite this clear dictate, Wikipedia identify thirteen sects immediately:
Ahmadiyya, Berelvi, Deobandi, Hanafi, Hanbali, Ibadism, Mahdavia, Maliki, Quranism, Salafi, Shafi’i, Sufi, and Wahhabism (which is the strict puritanical form of the Sunni ‘Hanbali’ school in its Salafi version).
Four more sub-groupings called ‘madhhabs’ have different schools of law.
And around the world, it depends on which religious leader/cleric the local community follows.
And as I have already said, every village, town and city in the world practices Islam slightly differently.
Yet wherever a Muslim lives, some of their beliefs are inalienable, immutable and absolute.
To illustrate this, I quote Raheel Raza, president of “Muslims Facing Tomorrow,” in the USA. This group had the PEW Research Group carryout a survey of the 39 ‘non-Muslim’ countries that have the largest number of Muslims (sample size 86 million).
She presented this information via a video:
www.therebel.media/by_the_numbers_the_untold_story_of_muslim_opinions_demographics_the_facts_the media_party_doesnt_want_you_to_see
So, these views are representative of Muslims from the moderate end of the belief spectrum.
Of Muslims polled in Western countries aged 18-29, the proportion believing suicide bombings against infidels can be justified was: France = 42%, UK = 35%; USA = 26%.
And I remind you, these are the views of those from non-Muslim countries.
So, when we are told 99% of Muslims are peace loving people, then from a sample of 86 million Muslims, in non-Muslim countries, the above figures are obtained; then should we believe them?
Even if 95% of Muslims are peace loving and law abiding, they are irrelevant, as it has always been the radicals that drive the agenda!
