The world stands at a threshold where the direction of history can turn toward creation rather than destruction.

China’s forthcoming 15th Five-Year Plan, expected to focus on integrating education, research, and industry and to call for a new “theory of productive forces,” is an explicit recognition that human creativity is the ultimate resource. The nation’s drive for breakthroughs in fusion power, advanced materials, and biomanufacturing embodies a philosophy that progress is the goal of civilization. Russia’s deep commitment to technological sovereignty, especially nuclear energy, shows a similar conviction that science must serve as the backbone of both national security and global cooperation.

The biggest threats to peace in the world are totally unnecessary. They are driven by a desire to dominate, reflecting a low level of moral development. For example, Iran’s foreign minister has emphasized that the U.S. and Israeli claims of Iran’s imminent production of nuclear weapons were nonsense, and known to be so at the time they were uttered and used as a justification for strikes on its nuclear facilities.

But you can’t bomb and destroy your way to a beautiful future.

In the United States, where the federal government has been shut down for a month, tens of thousands of critical employees are working without pay, including already overworked air traffic controllers. Government funding for programs such as food assistance is drying up. Meanwhile, an increasing portion of Americans are fed up with Israel’s barbaric actions, and are demanding a reassessment of U.S.-Israel relations.
