Spending Taxpayers Money

How much of our money should the state be allowed to spend and how much we should keep, to cover our own and our family’s requirements?

We should never forget the fundamental truth the government has no source of money other than the money that the taxpayers earn themselves.

If the government wishes to spend more it can only do so by taking our earnings or by taxing us more.

It’s no good thinking that someone else will pay because that someone else is us the taxpayers!

There is no such thing as public money as that is in fact the taxpayer’s money.

Prosperity won’t come by the government inventing more and more lavish public expenditure programs. We won’t grow richer by ordering another cheque book from the bank.

No country ever grew more prosperous by taxing its citizens beyond their capacity to pay.

Government has a duty to ensure that every dollar raised in taxation is spent wisely and well.

It is the government’s duty to be dedicated to good housekeeping including financial management.

Protecting the taxpayer’s finances and protecting the public services are the two main tasks of government and those demands have to be reconciled. It may be very pleasant and popular to say “spend more on this or expand more on that”.

All government members have their favourite causes the same as all of us but someone has to add up the figures.

Every business has to do it! Every household has to do it! Every government SHOULD do it!

Governments can’t keep spending more than the taxpayers can afford to pay!!!!
