Was Star Trek a vehicle to progress humanity into a new paradigm?

When in Moscow in 1986, I was standing in a long queue in our hotel waiting and waiting for 'Intourist' to sort out everyones travel arrangements and then I looked around me and there was Spock standing behind me.

I turned to him and introduced myself. I then told him that we can beat the Communist system of having to stand in a queue for long periods of time.

He said you can?

I said sure it's easy.

He said well tell me more?

I said we bring our own transporter room with us.

He was chuffed - he thought that was a great idea.

I then asked him about an episode in which he and Captain Kirk were on a planet and that they came across what Spock thought were beings that because they had no industry or technology - that they were suffering from 'arrested' development. I said it was on the planet Organia. He looked at me saying - he remembered that episode well and said it was called Errand of Mercy.

Without giving the show away - you can watch for 5 minutes. This is about 55 years old now. The quality of the film is superb - if you like this I have one if not better - equal to the occasion.

5 minutes - share

Enjoy

This occurrence to me was serendipity and synchronicity enmeshed in what I call sacrednicity - an event that 'had to happen.' - Why did I come up with that smart arsed statement regarding using the transporter room to transport us around. Plus, how did l know about the planet Organia and what Spock thought was a civilisation suffering from arrested development ? When it was totally the opposite. ❣️
