Victoria Bonham, a friend to pets, animals and all living sentient beings, recently launched the Animal Health And Wellbeing Alliance (AHAWA) in New Zealand.
Victoria lives in Central Otago and together with her husband she runs an animal sanctuary where horses, ponies, sheep, poultry, cats and dogs live carefree lives, and are loved and cared for.
She runs a large animal welfare Facebook group and was recently prompted to raise her concerns around the distressing state many animal are in, with the coordinators of The People’s Health Alliance (PHA) both here and in England, where PHA was formed.
The result is that she launched the Animal Health & Wellbeing Alliance (AHAWA) in July 2023. The goal is to be a national network of people who care about the health and welfare of animals, work with existing charities and localise support for animals and their carers. (Join AHAWA's Telegram Channel).
There are 72 animal well-being registered charities plus other non-registered charities relating to animals. Even with this number of groups, they are overwhelmed by the number of animals they are dealing with. We discuss the dire situation our animals are in, and why AHAWA has been formed. It’s purpose is to be the help at the top of the cliff, not the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff, which is what we currently have.
Join the AHAWA Telegram Channel to connect up with others, and find people in your local area with a similar passion and purpose to Victoria’s.
